The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), an autonomous body and not-for-profit institution, set up in 1983, is sponsored by apex financial institutions, namely the IDBI Bank Ltd, IFCI Ltd. ICICI Ltd and State Bank of India (SBI). The Institute is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and the Public Trust Act 1950. The Government of Gujarat pledged twenty-three acres of land on which stands the majestic and sprawling EDI campus.

Qualification and Experience:
Interested candidates must be a Ph.D. or should have equivalent qualifications, with
at least 10 years of experience at a credible senior position in a
reputed institution of higher learning or university; industry/corporate
sector; industrial development, financial or consultancy organization.
He/she must be comfortable with executive as well as academic
responsibilities and sensitive to needs, behaviour and expectations of
professionals and academic staff. Age should be preferably below 55
years. Pay-package and facilities are comparable with the best of
institutions of higher learning, such as IIMs and IITs.

Job Profile:
Candidates must be a dynamic academic leader with proven track record to lead this Centre of Excellence, as its Director. He/she must be able to lead a very competent team of faculty and staff members and take this self-sustaining Institute to newer heights. The new Director will have opportunities to consolidate and expand educational and training programmes, increase focus on research in the unexplored areas of entrepreneurship, develop new tools of interventions for new enterprise creation, expand international markets for EDI programmes, etc. Challenges: He/she will be leading a team of highly motivated and competent faculty and support staff working in a corporate culture. Sustenance, growth and internationalisation of the Institute will be other challenges for the new Director.
Tenure: The initial appointment will be for one term of five (5) years. However, it could be extended by the Governing Body, depending upon the performance of the person. Moreover, Director will have an option of continuing with the Institute as a professor after completion of his/her term as Director, subject to review by the Governing Body.
